Introduction
Government Medical College, Kathua is a full-fledged tertiary referral Government Medical college. It was established in the year 2019. This college imparts the degree Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). The college is affiliated to University of Jammu and is recognized by National Medical Commission. The hospital associated with the college is one of the largest hospitals in the Kathua. The selection to the college is done on the basis of merit through National Eligibility and Entrance Test. Yearly undergraduate student intake is 100 from the year 2019.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, in 2017, conceived the idea of starting a batch of five new medical colleges across the state to strengthen the already existing medical colleges to make the state’s health care systems at par with the premier health care institutions across the country. Government Medical College Kathua is one of the newly established medical college. Located at beautiful scenic village of Chak Sajjan in Kathua, it is situated at a distance of 4km from city of Kathua, which is both district & sub-district headquarter of Chak Sajjan village.
