INTRODUCTION
Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) was established as an, undergraduate institution for M.B.B.S. degree course in October 10th, 2001 with intake of 180 medical students annually under Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur C.G. funded by State Govt. of Chhattisgarh. CIMS run by State Govt under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The old govt. district hospital (Dharam Hospital-350 beded), Bilaspur C.G. was converted in to the CIMS’s hospital with 300 beds and all staffs of district hospital were merged.
Last MCI inspection for recognition of M.B.B.S. degree was done on 18th & 19th July 2006 and the final M.B.B.S (Part II) examination was appreciated and as per MCI norms as mentioned in the inspection report. But due to shortage of faculty and other minimal deficiencies compliance was asked for. Compliance verification inspection was done on 8th & 9th Feb. 2007. and 31.05.2007.
Recognition for M.B.B.S degree was given by govt. of India, Ministry of Health & FW vide its letter no U.12012/72/2000-ME (P-II) dated 23rd July 2007. and affiliated to AYUSH and Health Sciences University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur CG.
The mission and vision behind the CIMS are to develop it as an innovative, dynamic and independent medical institute dedicated to provide excellent medical education as well as the best health care, especially to the tribal, backward and rural community of Chhattisgarh region.The Institute stands committed to excellence in providing health care and research.

1. The Hospital is 550 beded and run by unit systems. It is a dietary Hospital.
2. Clinical side rooms (CSR) are available in the ward.
3. Teaching areas are available in each ward.
4. Hospital Kitchen is run by an approved contractor under the supervision of an authorized and posted dietician of CIMS, Therapeutic kitchen facility exists.
5. All basic and advanced investigations are done in the hospital. It has a central laboratory with three components (Biochemistry, Pathology & Microbiology). Samples are collected at sample collection centre centrally.

Chhattisgarh MBBS Eligibility Criteria :
– The candidate age must be at least 17 years.
– The candidate age must not be more than 25 years.
– The candidate who has passed Class 12 or equivalent examination from Chhattisgarh board or any other board recognised by Chhattisgarh government with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
– The candidate belonging to the Unreserved category is required to score at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology. For SC/ST/OBC category, it is 40%.
– The candidate must secure minimum required percentile in NEET UG.

Hostel
The CIMS College provides “on-campus” separate hostel facility for Boys and Girls. These hostels are aesthetically designed, complete with Mess and Recreational facilities.
Hostel facilities are available in the CIMS college campus :
1. The Institute runs a hostel each for the boys and girls students.
2. Two hostels including PG Hostels are available & functional in the campus.
3. The hostel buildings with spacious rooms, lounges, recreation room having tv sets in each of the hostels.
4. The girls hostel, with a view to ensure absolute safety of the inmates, is fenced properly & secured.
5. The Student representatives run the mess in the mens’ and womens’ hostel under the supervision and guidance of the warden.
